If I had known how easy it was to texture and hammer silver and copper I would have been doing this from the start. I am in love with my chasing hammer.
When I first started making jewelry I didn't know what type of hammer to get. I tried valiantly to hammer some copper with a normal hammer & mallet on a piece of aluminum but... it's really didn't work. My dad thought it was funny and my mom told us not to break the table.
I asked my wonderful and crafty aunt and she laughed and told me to get a chasing hammer. As I searched it would seem that every site I went to was sold out. So I put it off.
Fast forward to 2 weekends ago.
I went to visit my crafty aunt (with my dad in tow) and the three of us went to her local insanely huge craft supply store. While I was off puttering around the selection of stone beads my dad wondered off on his own. It was a slow day at the shop so I wasn't too worried about him getting beat up by a little old lady for god knows what.
And guess what he finds? A chasing hammer. I guess he had been talking to my aunt/his sister about the wire wrapping looking fun. So he got a few things to try it and that night he happily hammered away for about 10min. After that he was was ok... here you go! And thus how I came to own it.
Last night I finally got around to testing it out. I love it.
My first pendant, while the learning experience, turned out very nice. I figured out a few things to Not Do and a few things that are not as easy as they looked. Also that I am low on silver wire.
I think I will be keeping my river stone & copper pendent and make more of them to post to my
Etsy Shop. I will also be posting the other pendents that I have and will make this this week. After I take photos. I will also be updating all my photos so that you can actuly see the items and not just imagine them in the too dark pictures.
